Generation Barents Bodø 2023

On April 21st 2023, the Barents Regional Youth Council, in collaboration with Nordland County Council and the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, hosted an international youth event called Generation Barents. This event was a part of the High North Dialogue held in Bodø in 2023. The High North Dialogue is an annual conference that aims to bring together key stakeholders in the Arctic region.

Generation Barents provides a platform for young people from the Barents region. It offered an excellent opportunity for students, youth council members, youth organizations, young entrepreneurs, and other interested individuals aged 18 to 30 to network, discuss, and raise awareness about the future of the Barents Region.

The event included a full-day seminar, lunch, and a VIP evening program at the Norwegian Aviation Museum. The seminar featured speeches, presentations, and panel discussions, allowing young participants to discuss important current issues. Topics included active northern communities and youth participation in political processes. Given that Bodø will be the European Capital of Culture in 2024, there were also discussions on how to engage youth in the European Capitals of Culture framework. Workshops explored opportunities and tools for future initiatives.
