The event began with an introductory session explaining the Barents Region and the significance of Barents Cooperation for young people over the years. A panel featured past and present enthusiasts from BRYC and the Barents Region, representing various areas of cooperation.
The main focus of this Generation Barents edition was working life and skilled labor in the Barents region. Panels and presentations covered a range of intriguing topics, including the expectations youth have for working life and entrepreneurship, the meaning of being an entrepreneur, how companies attract and retain young, skilled workers, and what companies expect from their employees. Discussions also touched on future working life trends and the skills needed. A young entrepreneur shared his story through a presentation.
Education and study options, closely linked to youth employability, were also discussed. A representative from the University of Eastern Finland presented student and job exchange opportunities. The full-day event featured a panel discussion on the factors that attract people to the Barents region.
The following day, on October 24th, the Barents Cultural Scholarship Award Ceremony was held, along with the announcement of the winners of the Discover Barents Photography Competition.
